Juice Cleanse FAQ
What’s a juice cleanse?
Juice cleanses are used to achieve balance within your blood cells, have ski-high energy levels, lose weight, and kick start a healthy lifestyle. When doing a juice cleanse you replace your standard diet with nutrient rich cold-pressed organic juices for a short period of time (usually 3-7 days).
RASA juice cleanses consist of carefully prescribed cold-pressed, organic juices designed by a certified nutrition expert. Each day will consist of 5 juices and a booster so you get the well-rounded nutrition you need to expel toxins as well as keep your body at optimal health.
Cleansing has been used for centuries for healing, spiritual practices and longevity. On a RASA cleanse the body can expel built up toxins while simultaneously absorbing vital nutrients. We also provide nutritional coaching with our cleanse programs so you get the best experience and possible. We also customize so let us know when you order!
Why should I juice cleanse?
The benefits of doing a cleanse are abundant:
- When you take a break from eating (chewing) food, your body and organs have more energy to heal as well as give your digestive system a break (no bloating!).
- The body is able to expel free radicals and goes through autolysis (where weak cells are metabolized) which fosters the youthful glow.
- Opportunity to abstain from less than ideal foods and overcome sugar cravings and not-so nutritious eating habits.
- The chlorophyl rich juices can bind to toxins such as heavy metals, radiation, and free-radicals and safely flush them out of your cells.
- Cleansing helps the body shed excess weight. Our clients have often lost anywhere from 5-20 lbs.
- The weight you lose is often kept off long-term because during the cleanse you are receiving a full spectrum of nutrients and minerals that help you weed out cravings as well as resets your body’s metabolism.
- Mental clarity, energy, focus and glowing skin are our favorites!
How long should I cleanse for?
We generally recommend 3-5 day cleanses to start. In our experience when cleansing for 5-7 days you start to see deep results. The first 3 days your system has a chance to rest and cleanse. By days 4 – 7 you really go to healing, rebuilding and re-mineralizing and experiencing a real transformation in energy levels, vibrancy, weight, and glow to name a few. Of course it is important to listen to your body and also what works for your schedule. You might just need a 3 day to reset and rebalance. Your cleanse is unique to you.
How do I prepare for a juice cleanse?
After you set your start date, start to wean off caffeine, sugar, gluten, animal protein, dairy and heavy processed foods. If you drink caffeine it is wise to start weaning yourself off a few days prior to cleansing and replacing caffeine with decaf and eventually enjoying herbal teas. Also, start increasing your intake of veggies and dark leafy greens before your cleanse.
I work out a lot. Can I still juice cleanse?
Juice is a powerhouse made of super foods. Juice cleansing can nourish and support you in your everyday busy life. Listen to your body when you juice cleanse. If you discover you need a little something more then prepare a raw salad, a warm veggie broth, have some fruit or almond milk and enjoy a few snacks recommended below. We recommend a coconut water to be added to your cleanse routine if you are working out.
Will I lose weight?
Everybody is different so we can’t guarantee a weight loss but it is typical. Between the lower caloric intake and the anti-inflammatory ingredients you are creating in your body, weight will naturally come off. Many cleansers experience losing 5-20 lbs.
Can I cleanse if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
You are working hard growing a baby or feeding a baby! Juice cleansing isn’t recommended if you are pregnant and newly breastfeeding. Some like to get a pack of juices to incorporate live mineral rich green juices and superfood smoothies into their diets. So good for baby and YOU! Since we coach as well as provide juices, we will guide you through what juices to drink and also tweak ingredients if necessary.
Is there a specific order to drink the juices?
We have a recommendation for the order of juices, but the good news is that you can’t mess up! So if you have them out of order it’s ok. We will send you a pre-cleanse guide with the order listed for you and just do your best to follow instructions but there is no need to worry about following things to a T.
Is there a certain time I drink the juices?
Even though each person’s schedule will vary we recommend having a juice about every 2 hours. Reach for a juice anytime you would reach for a snack or meal.
Can I drink water?
Absolutely! We recommend drinking ½ your body weight in ounces of water daily through out the cleanse. It helps to flush out toxins and fight those hunger pangs. Most of the time we aren’t hungry, we are just dehydrated.
Can I drink coffee?
We recommend weaning off coffee a few days before your start date. Start substituting with decaf and then herbal tea. Caffeine is acidic and inflammatory and during a cleanse, it’s time to heal the body.
Can I drink tea?
Yes! Herbal tea is great. Try Chamomile or Peppermint. Avoiding caffeine is recommended as it’s irritating to the digestive system.
What if I'm hungry?
Here are a few ideas:
- Have another juice from your cleanse.
- Have a big glass of water with lemon and a pinch of pink Himalayan sea salt.
- For those new to cleansing or extremely active it is fine to have some fruit or one healthy meal a day. Try to keep it all raw with a fresh organic green salad with avocado. Steamed greens and quinoa as well as a veggie broth (we supply the recipe) will also be fine.
What are some good snack recommendations?
- Organic fruit smoothie with nutmilk
- Banana with nut butter
- Whole organic fruit including berries
- Veggie broth
- Handful of raw almonds or walnuts
- An avocado with a pinch of himlayan sea salt
How long are the juices good for?
We guarantee 5 days before expiration if kept refrigerated. Make sure to not open and close the caps because of oxidation. You can even put a few bottles in the freezer if you know you will have extras.
Do I have to drink all of them in one day?
You are “eating” a lot during your cleanse so you might not be able to drink all your juices in one day. Such as one juice can have 2 cucumbers, a handful of kale, If you do not finish everything in one day, it’s totally all good. You’ll have extra juices while you’re transitioning off your cleanse.
How do they taste? Tell the #truth!
Our customers and clients tell us that RASA has the best tasting juices they’ve ever had. Our flavors were developed by an experienced nutrition expert with the intention of being nutrient-dense, healing, and delicious. Some people new to juicing may need to adjust to the veggie flavors but we always add a lemon or lime to support the transition. Try drinking the juices cold and slowly to allow your taste buds to adjust.
What do I do after the cleanse?
We have many options to choose from post-cleanse with plant-based, gluten-free recipes and meals. We have a list of recipes we can send you as well as option ideas. Many people jump into one of our maintenance or subscription programs to sustain their results and keep their energy up. We think that one green juice per day keeps the doctor away!
Will I be tired?
Detox sleep is the BEST! It’s common to have the best sleep ever during and after your cleanse. Also while Day 1 is usually a big transition, detoxifying day, you might feel a bit tired as your body works hard to expel toxins. But as your cleanse works its magic, it’s common to fall asleep peacefully at night and wake up with renewed spark. If you do feel sleepy then we suggest taking a nap, meditating, or just having some quite time. Your juice cleanse is time for YOU so treat yo’self with some pampering and slowing down.
Will I need to stick to the bathroom during my cleanse?
Everyone is different so your experience will be unique to you. RASA is a gentle cleanse and does not have laxative-type effects, although it is great at moving blockages in the digestive tract. You will be drinking a lot of liquids so your body will adjust and flush out any yuk!
Do the juices have to stay cold?
Fo’ sho’! Cold-pressed organic juices need to be kept refrigerated. You can also keep them in an insulated bag with ice packs throughout your cleanse day.
